Welcome to ARCA’s website! ARCA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to provide premier residential and vocational services to people with developmental disabilities. Founded in 1957 by a group of caring families seeking community-based opportunities, ARCA has grown to be the largest non-profit service provider of its kind in New Mexico. We offer a comprehensive array of critical supports including community and family living, supported employment, specialized services, and community inclusion for the over 500 children and adults we serve with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities in the greater Albuquerque area.
    ARCA works together to “Open Doors” for people with developmental disabilities to live their dreams and enjoy health, safety and happiness, while minimizing challenges and obstacles in their lives. We incorporate our mission, vision, purpose and core values into our daily actions and showcase ARCA’s unique culture in ARCA’s “A” to provide a snapshot of who we are, what we do and how we do it. I believe ARCA’s “A” provides an excellent portrait of the vibrant organization I am honored to serve.
    As one of Albuquerque’s larger employers, ARCA has 630 staff who have chosen a career in caring at over 100 locations throughout the greater Albuquerque area. In a recent study, it was noted that the total economic impact of ARCA on the New Mexico economy, including both the direct and indirect impacts, is estimated as $34.6 million, representing 838 total jobs and total wages and salaries of $21.2 million.
    ARCA relies on government funding and donor support to continue our 50-year tradition of service excellence in designing and implementing innovative services for individuals with developmental disabilities. To ensure a sustainable future, ARCA established the ARCA Foundation in 1996. Your financial contributions ensure that ARCA will always be there to meet the growing needs of the cherished individuals in our care and I thank you for your support.
    With a long tradition of innovative supports in central New Mexico, ARCA’s vision is to be the role model of excellence in lifelong services for people with developmental disabilities.
