InterCare
ICF-MR
InterCare
homes provide 24-hour supervision for people with development disabilities. InterCare manages homes that are licensed
as an intermediate care facility for people with mental
retardation known as an ICF/MR. ICF/MRs have evolved
over the past 25 years from large, state-run institutions
to smaller, privately run homes located in the community.
InterCare homes have between 4 and ten residents.
To
be certified to receive Medicaid funding, an ICF/MR
must meet federal standards for 24-hour health care
and continuous, individualized active training for people
living there. ICF/MRs provide a full range of services
in meeting individual participants' needs that include
community based living, education, employment training,
counseling and support therapies, health care and recreational
activities. Professionally trained nurses and social
workers are located in each home.
