Foster Care

As a licensed child placement agency, children with and without special needs are referred to ARCA's foster care services by the NM Children, Youth and Families Department, Tribal Services, the Navajo Nation Social Services, and voluntary referals through the New Mexico Developmental Disabilities Waiver.

Family Based Services strives to ensure a perfect match between a child and a foster family.

Before a child is placed, foster families:

• Are carefully screened,
• Undergo a lengthy home-study process, and,
• Receive required pre-service training

Once a child is placed with the family, the foster parents receive unlimited 24-hour-a-day support. The Family Based Foster Care Services Team works towards longevity and permanency because it is essential that each child is placed with the right family to meet that child's individual needs. ARCA is proud that numerous foster parents have either adopted their foster child or provided care for extensive periods of time.
